third IA Cocktail Hour at Frankfurt
Our Cocktail Hour at Frankfurt developed for the IA scene on Main fortunately slowly to a nice little round of interested information architects who fancy themselves from time to exchange views on job situation, methods, concepts, or the like.
And so we we are looking forward to our upcoming meeting in Riz (a nice little coffee bar) at 27.11., From 19:30 clock. If you also Lust hast, then just join us - we hereby cordially invite you. You're welcome to us around here and give also throw your topics in advance in the round.
On the map of our IA Networking Institute I see as some more information architects from the Frankfurt area, we would like to have there:).

EURO IA 2008 - Bester input for the work week
It's always the same:) - in just two days € IA Conference you get so much inspiration from the presentations of speakers and of course through the conversations in the breaks - a huge motivation for the Work weeks later! Is it about you too?
What I really liked was the chance this time, several of the interesting lecture content (some analysis and design issues) to be equal in the projects of my first work week feed after the conference.
following presentations were made of one or another project context out for me interesting:
(let it in the next IA Cocktail Hour at Frankfurt talk further on the most presentations you at Slideshare GE tagged. with "euroia2008"):
Keynote - Adam Greenfield
wanted his provocative keynote presentation that I liked - it is an exciting and trend-setting Subject. And no doubt it will in future more hybrid concepts that give a solution for a digial and a real-space information (or product) supply.
Integrating web analysis in the User Experience Design Process
This, from the Internet Architects well-structured presentation, I found some important approaches again, to which I myself always put value: Good workflow descriptions, development of key indicators ( KPI's), etc. - unfortunately I found the presentation has not yet.
Content Analysis
What we showed Chiara Fox from Adaptive Path in their well structured presentation methods was not indeed so much new. However, I was talking to her and some people (such as with Silke ) thereafter, following clear that we all see more of that sound good (method) should give presentations to confidently communicate with our faculty and our conception optimize workflow. Of course, this should be possible based on real project experience and practice - but they told enough, or:). What do you think?
Building Social Web Experience
Laurent Goffin describes his presentation with strategic approaches based on solid data mining to design for social network platforms. As for my own needs here meets the interdisciplinary approaches, mixed with a "user centered approach", "web analytics" and "business requirements".
Commercial Ethnography and innovating information experience
Jim describes in 6 steps (1 Evangalise, 2 Prepare, Conduct 3rd, 4th analysis, 5 Ideate, 6.Validate) a sound approach for a "Commercial ethnography "- a pity that there still is no audio recording. Otherwise I would give in our company some time to listen.
roadmap for a stronger, European IA / UX Network
specifically to this subject " € IA Roadmap " I will (as Write-initiator) in the following days / weeks / months, certainly a lot more. Only this: It was a successful presentation and panel discussion at the conference - and for interessiete € IA-Network, we have a few weeks ago they founded XING community - you are also welcome if you the topic of "Information Architecture Europe "is interested:).
It's a DIY Future
The presentation by Joe Lamantia, there were some good efforts for future, modular solutions. This concept would be even better solutions come to the fore when he had amended his Slideset time. However, I found my own parallel port Conceptual claims in his presentation and would like to talk it through once with interested colleagues.
Taking Social Networks Global
Slide 36/38 in Peter's Presentation for me was the "i" dot in a number of convincing arguments about why the topic of "Global IA" must take seriously IA concepts - The perceived tension between the standard product and the localization. These very subjects I deal every week all over again. We have, however, this "house" already developed some solution approaches.
I'm not you - Modelling Personalization
Congratulations Bogo - very good design solutions! - This presentation is for me meeting one of the best presentations of € IA. Not to be missed. It shows very well how to Concept Models, user profiles, user profile management, use cases and flow charts interact in a personalization strategy.
Concept Design Tools for Information Architecture
Victor Lombardi gave at the IA € the last presentation - almost as a "closing keynote". You could call it the "icing on the cake." He presented a modern thinking pattern, which borrows from the product design is appropriated. Very interesting. Spontaneously, I thought to myself at his presentation, the value of such approaches are for a collaborative innovation process.
I would be pleased, of course, as always, your feedback and discussions on these issues - in this case, especially with my own colleagues:)!

Punishment After Lost Bet
Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) - Roadmap
occupied me for a year, as part of requirements analysis for our Solution / Digital product also increasingly the subject of Enterprise IA.
The reasons for this are complex, such as workflow enhancements, reduction of content silos, social issues, innovation management and, of course (sometimes indirectly) and product enhancements. After all, who knows not mean that you first have to bring about internal improvements in information flows in order to enable further steps in the optimal basis for an innovative product development (Requiremants analysis / management, engineering). This is a common pattern in many companies.
Who has made this area a great name, is the "EIA-inventor" of course, Lou (Louis Rosenfeld). Recently I found on his site an update to its "Enterprise IA Roadmap" . Furthermore I would like to keep
soon once a presentation or conduct a workshop.

IA / UX in Agile / Scrum processes
I am not exactly clear number of IAs to date for the issue of information architecture and Scrum processes "are interested. When I was at this year's IA Summit 2008 include a topic-Table (Theme lunch dinner table) with the motto "IA in Scrum and Agile Process" suggested that filled unexpectedly even two large dining tables with IAS for the topic of interest. We talked about the issue and inspired us with some of them I still have good exchange on the subject. So I've
me as Becca Galfer, maintain an information architect at the time of this round, on dates like this:
- 12 Best Practices of Agile UX on Environment - Part1
- User Centered Design and Agile
my career I just deal with the issue extensively and Scrum IA would be interested to know how strongly refuses the barometer of interest on this subject.

IA Cocktail Hour at Frankfurt - Thanks for the nice small talk:)
ago took about 3 weeks now take our first IA Cocktail Hour at Frankfurt . A big thank you to this place to everyone who took time to comply with the invitation:). We were quite surprised that even a few IAs from Denmark were added.
with this beautiful Friday evening we found at least the opportunity to tell us about our favorite topics such as IA (methods), conferences, people, UX, and other "Hot Topics" again properly replaced. I had a few people quite as great conversations about Pattern, semantic, job situation, etc. and would like to continue to do well.
Because of the feedback then it has you liked - and that pleases us most, of course. Obviously, in the Frankfurt area some really active information architects, who also keep you up and be a little small talk. I'm on the next round Plauder looking forward - and on the location:).

Thomas Vander Wal - father of the folksonomy
I was very pleased when I recently randomly over the video presentation by Thomas at the workshop of the Institute for Knowledge Media stumbled - highly recommended (!!).
we had with Thomas already a very nice time at our last conference IA '08 (followed by a workshop) - the presentation can be heard at IA Voice .
companies as part of their solution with Folksonomy, Social Software and Tagging, deal as a favor to digest the presentations by Thomas, to develop a successful solution. Thomas and I would invite any event, once again soon to hold a workshop with us:).

Talk about solving strategy - "backcasting" is a good way
When IA Summit in Las Vegas
I visited this great lecture on backcasting, to me since now and again comes to mind when, in the context of projects to the strategy is a digital solution. Currently this is on our current projects about the case several times each week:). I think that can be achieved with back-casting, compared to many of our "ordinary" workshop methods, a high degree of stakeholder buy-in.
Important intermediate steps and solution approaches to the threshold for the implementation or to place the possibility of realizing as low as possible.
All this is for example in the back-casting method, in workshops, developed together.
What methods do you use in the strategy development process?

One goal - to set orientation points Which direction we want to pursue me to the concept, so we will see in one or more versions of a significant development progress? The goal here serves mainly as a guide. to integrate the potential of different perspectives - A good interdisciplinary team .

New book: Mental Models - used wisely, a very helpful IA method projects!
I'm really glad when I finally saw that
Indi Young's book, "Mental Models"
is now finished. When was IA Summit 2007 in Las Vegas
Indi me during their Worshops "Development of Mental Models" kindly even
IA Voice interview
. Became clear to me that I would read this book very much.
I look forward to the Emersion with all who are interested in this exciting topic as well. For some time I even put different versions of mental models in my projects. Which method should I choose in each case, I choose depending on the communication objectives, ability to abstract the target group and of course, after the time available. The method I developed " Global Mental Model " (in the book by Jim Kalbach
described in more detail), for example is suitable for more abstract communications. I was wondering what is your experience with this method?

IA Summit 2008 - I'm coming:)!
Since the beginning of the year, many wait out for the IA Summit 2008 Report to
- I am one of them:). And I'm very curious who this year well by our German community will be there. The last IA Summit 2007 I was quite surprised when I suddenly some in German with "hey Wolf, how are" welcomed - was really funny. I would love to hear from you if you ride this year.

What would interest me at this point - since now even the IA Summit is supported with it: Do you have experience with
CrowdVine , to support a social network made? Thanks for your input.

What If Human Took Carprofen
project notes: To determine user requirements to avoid subsequent problems
A few days ago I stumbled on the following items on TechRepublic "
Determine user requirements now to avoid problems later . I find this topic from my usual point of view just very exciting project, so this short note for all who are interested. Jason's post explains the main reasons for problems in IT projects. He describes the stakeholders should be in the boat with which tasks are done by analysts and ultimately the strategies needed for successful evaluation of user requirements.
I think about such issues should we use other (IA) colleagues to speak more often. I am now concerned it is certainly a long time. And so I would be happy to communicate it.
